By the end of each course you will be in a position to:
The opening day sets the scene, context and structure for the change management course. Each session includes interactive group working activities and application of delegate’s learning to the case study. First up is the research into change programmes – when change goes wrong and when change goes right.
The next session gets into gear by examining Individuals and Change, starting with Learning Styles and Preferences. To illustrate. Delegates will be asked to apply their learning to a simple change scenario, to explore how different styles and preferences influence an individual’s response. A particular focus is Cameron and Green’s thoughts and ideas about the Four Psychological Approaches to Change, in which we examine Behavioural, Cognitive, Psychodynamic and Humanistic approaches.
Further topics discussed include Helping Others to Change and Personality and Change. Again, by applying their learning to a simple scenario, Delegates will explore how these different perspectives can affect and influence individual’s responses during change. The importance of effective and flexible approaches to communications during times of change is also highlighted. Finally, we look at Schein’s Transformative Change Model and consider the resisting forces at work when change happens.
After a Day 1 debrief, the second day continues with the topic of Teams and Change, where we look initially at the Nature of a Team, Team Effectiveness and Behaviours. A particular focus will be on Glaser and Glaser’s Effective Team profile, together with Tuckman’s Team Development stages. Delegates will work together in teams to explore different aspects of teams and change, including applying their learning using briefings on project work underway in the case study scenario and to demonstrate effective team leadership.
Day 2 continues with the topic of Organizations and Change with a briefing session on how organisations really work when delegates explore Morgan’s Metaphors before assessing the metaphors that are at work or would benefit the organization in the case study. Further sessions explore Models of and Approaches to Organizational Change.
After a Day 2 debrief, the third day turns attention to Leadership and Change, with discussion of Leaderships Styles and Emotional Competencies. Leadership and change, looking at:
• Leadership for different phases of change
• Leadership roles in the change process
All the course sessions will be completed by early afternoon on Day 3 so that attention can switch to final preparation of delegates for the Foundation Examination (1 hour).
Our attention now turns to the Practitioner exam and the additional material that needs to be explored, including:
• Individuals and Change
Coaching, Active Listening and Feedback.
• Teams and Change
Facilitation and Action Learning.
• Organizations and Change
The Strategic Change Process, Tools that Support Complex Change and getting Ready for Change.
• Leadership and Change
Stakeholder Engagement
Delegates will have the opportunity to work together to explore these topics and apply them to the case study and to practice sample examination sample questions. Finally, delegates will be supported in choosing their preferred approach to final preparation for the exam.
